ANGELA BURNS MEMORIAL 10K:
Last Sunday morning over 220 people took part in the 3rd annual Angela Burns Memorial 10k Fun Run/Walk, which was kindly sponsored by Harvey Travel, Gladstone St. Ferrybank GAA club would like to thank Sean Power of Harvey Travel for the kind and generous sponsorship of the race.
With weather conditions ideal for all, Brian Murphy from Carrick AC was the overall winner for the third consecutive year, 2nd man home was Craig O' Brien, with Brian Cuddihy in 3rd place. The 1st Lady home was Evelyn Haran, with Nicola Harte in 2nd place. Brian and Evelyn received their fantastic trophies after the race. In the juvenile race, Jay Bagge was an impressive winner, with Aine O' Callaghan the 1st girl home. All the Juvenile racers received Angela Burns medals and enjoyed the Choclate Moojou milk that was kindly supplied by Glanbia after their run.
Once again a huge thanks to the people for coming along and enjoyed this day, it was great to see so many smiles on their faces coming back, sharing their stories on how they fared during the race, and tucking into the fine spread of food that was laid on by the Ladies committee, which received excellent compliments.
Thanks to Pat O' Meara for organising the stewarding in a professional manner, which also received positive comments. Also, many thanks to all the helpers on the day; Fintan Walsh for his excellent MC during before and during the race, Kieran O' Mahoney from Total Timing for his professional work leading up to the big day, Jim Farrell for the use of the car park facilities in the shopping centre and Fiona Kavanagh & Penny Horan for the Water stations.
