UNDER 11 HURLING:
Our U11s won their second City League game last night in
another gutsy display against De La Salle in Gracedieu.
We played with the wind in the first-half, in what was a
very competitive opening, our backs were very steady in defence given nothing
away. This allowed our midfield and forwards to drive on and get some brilliant
scores. Half-time score 2-03 v 0-02.
Against the breeze in the second-half, we started strong,
getting the first few scores. With every player giving it his all, we never
really looked like losing this one.
Great team display again from defence all the way through.
Thanks to De La Salle for a good competitive match in which they never give up.
This team has one match left against Glenmore in two weeks’
time. Let’s train hard for the next game and give them a good lash, brilliant
lads.
UNDER 12 HURLING:
Its City League action for the U12 hurlers this coming
Friday June 16th with a home game against Portlaw at 6:30pm.
UNDER 13 HURLING:
Our U13 Hurlers are in Eastern Championship action this
coming Monday night June 12th away to St Marys at 7pm. Best of luck lads.
JOHN WEST FÉILE:
Ferrybank’s U14 hurlers are competition in this year’s Féile
which takes place from Friday June 16th to Sunday June 18th, which
is being hosted by Carlow, Kilkenny and Wexford.
Ferrybank will start their campaign this coming Friday at
5pm where they play Cluain O' Rahilly’s from Wexford, in Kennedy Park New Ross GAA
grounds, followed at 6pm against Broadford from Co. Clare. Then on Saturday
morning at 11:15am, the team play their final game in the league section
against local team Geraldine O' Hanrahan’s also in Kennedy Park. No doubt your
support will be appreciated on the days, and best of luck to the players and
selectors during this competition.
COUNTY DUTY:
Hard luck to Iona Heffernan and Niamh Ahearne who were part
of the Waterford Senior Camogie team that were defeated by Kilkenny in Walsh
Park last Saturday afternoon in the All-Ireland Championship. Let’s hope the
team can make amends when they travel to Ennis next week to play Clare.
Also, best of luck to Mark O' Brien and the Waterford Senior
and U25 hurling teams in Thurles this coming Sunday. The U25 team take on
Limerick in the inaugural U25 Munster Hurling final.
JUNIOR FOOTBALL:
Our Junior Footballers recorded a 1-07 to 1-05 win against
Roanmore in their second game in the John J Murphy sponsored competition last
Friday night in wet and windy conditions. This was a deserved win for the team
who kept plugging away, despite missing a number of scoring chances throughout
the match, but got their reward late on.
The opening exchanges were equally shared with the sides
level on three occasions, with points from Kevin Hurley, Tommy Carew and Greg
Murphy keeping Ferrybank in the hunt. Sam Lawless missed a glorious chance of a
goal when his shot went wide, and, just on the stroke of half-time, Roanmore
scored a goal of their own to put them 1-04 to 0-3 ahead.
Greg Murphy reduced the gap early in the second-half, but
another Roanmore point had them four up, but slowly Ferrybank began to get a
foothold in the game, with the Ahern brothers driving them on, ably assisted by
Shane O' Sullivan, Cormac Heffernan and Tommy Carew, points from Sam, Kevin and
Greg reduced the gap.
Ferrybank began to squander some good scoring chances, and
it looked like they were going to pay for those missed chances. However, with
minutes to go, a Kevin Hurley free was floated in and Sam Lawless rose high to
fist the ball to the net. Greg Murphy then sealed the win with a fine point at
the end.
This was a good win for the side, who grew in confidence as
the game went on, and got their reward by not throwing in the towel.

DÉISE DRAW:
Best of luck to all who have purchased a Déise Draw ticket,
with the second draw taking place in the Erin’s Own GAA grounds on Wednesday
June 14th. It’s not too late to get involved, with five more draws to take
place.
Tickets cost €15 per draw, and they are 21 cash prizes to be
won, with a 1st prize of €12,500, 2nd prize of €3,500, 3rd and 4th prize €1,000
and so on…
This is the club's main fundraiser, and with 70% going back
into the club's day to day running, we would encourage all people to support
your local GAA club, and purchase a Déise Draw ticket. Tickets are available

PEADAR'S SUMMER CAMP:
Its nearly that time of the year again folks with the
popular annual Peadar's Summer camp taking place from Monday July 17th until
Friday 21st July, and to keep up its tradition, the annual benefit night in aid
of the summer camp will be held on Friday 30th June in Flynn’s Bar, with music
and entertainment been provided by Pat Cooney.
We would ask everyone to support this event, because fundraisers
like this allows us to run the camp for fantastic value. Tickets for the
benefit night will be on sale from the usual channels. Any person who would
like to get involved, as a potential helper, there will be an induction day on
Saturday July 8th. This is an essential part of the camp, and all
helpers must take part.

KELLOGG’S CÚL CAMP:
The Kellogg’s Cúl Camp 2017 will take place in the Ferrybank
GAA grounds from Monday 14th to Friday 18th August form 10am-2:30pm. This is
open to primary school children aged between 6-13 years of age. Activities
during the week will include hurling, camogie, football and rounders. Bookings

CLUB NURSERY:
Each and every Saturday morning at 10am, the club nursery
takes place in the GAA grounds for any children aged 5 years and upwards. This
is a great way for boys and girls to make new friends, and also learn the
skills of our national game. Everyone is most welcome to attend; hurleys and
helmets will be supplied on the day. So, to all parents, why not bring the kids
down on a Saturday morning for an hour for a fun filled morning!?
