FÉILE NA NGAEL:
Ferrybank’s Under 14 hurlers were defeated in the quarter-finals
of the cup section in this year’s John West Féile na nGael in New Ross on
Saturday evening. The lads played their opening two games on Friday night,
defeating local side Cluain O' Rahilly's in a tight game on a scoreline of 1-05
to 0-05, and then defeating Broadford of Kildare 5-06 to 1-01.
On Saturday morning, Ferrybank made it three from three win
a 1-08 to 0-02 win over Geraldines O' Hanrahan's from New Ross, therefore
setting up a quarter-final clash that evening against Clan Na Gael from Meath.
However that proved a bridge to far, as the Meath side ran
out winners on a scoreline of 3-06 to 1-04. This was a great experience for the
team, with the matches played in glorious weather, and no doubt the team will
come on from this.
Special word of thanks to the Waterford Greenway Cycle Tours
for sponsoring the team a set of Jerseys to the team for the Feile, and also to
Peter Oates, Derek Walsh Auctioneers and the Mandarin Palace for their kind
donations to the team.
Meanwhile, it’s back to action this coming Monday night June
19th with a home game against Sacred Heart at 7pm.
INTERMEDIATE HURLING:
It’s a crucial game for our Intermediate hurlers this coming
Saturday June 24th at 6pm in Walsh Park, where they take on Butlerstown in the
Gerry Kennedy Crash Repairs sponsored competition. With 1 point from their
opening two games, the lads know victory is essential in order to keep their
hopes alive for the knockout stages.
JUNIOR HURLING:
Our Junior hurlers play Butlerstown in their second game
this coming Thursday night June 22nd at 7:30pm in Ferrybank, in the John J
Murphy sponsored competition. Having lost narrowly in their opening game, the
lads will be keen to get back to winning ways, and your support will be
appreciated on the night.
COUNTY DUTY:
It was a busy weekend for some of our star players
representing the county over the weekend, and hard luck to Niamh Ahearne &
Iona Heffernan who were part of the Waterford Senior Camogie team that were
defeated by Clare in the All Ireland Camogie Championship last Saturday
afternoon in Ennis.
DÉISE DRAW:
We had no luck in the June Déise draw which took place last
Wednesday night in the Erin’s Own GAA grounds. Many thanks to all who have
purchased tickets, and remember it’s not too late to get involved, with another
4 draws still to take place.
Tickets cost €15, with a 1st prize of €12,500, 2nd prize is
€3,500, 3rd & 4th prize €1,000, all the way down to 21st prize which is
€100. So we would encourage all families, members, supporters, to purchase a Déise

helmets supplied on the day.
UNDER 12 HURLING:
No Joy for the Under 12 hurlers as they went down to Portlaw
last Thursday night in a close game. The lads gave it their all, but Portlaw
got the vital scores when it mattered.
UNDER 13 HURLING:
Our Under 13 hurlers were well defeated by a strong St. Mary’s
side last Monday night in Kill. The lads competed well for long stages of the
match, but a clinical St. Mary’s side scored the goals, leaving Ferrybank an
uphill mountain to climb.

Its City League action this coming Friday June 23rd at
