ABP sponsored Ferrybank GAA Weekly Notes

UNDER 21 HURLING:
Ferrybank/Erin’s Own combined team exited the Eddie O' Donnell sponsored competition last Sunday afternoon in Gracedieu defeated by Passage on a scoreline of 1-09 to 1-04. Aided with the breeze in the opening half, the combined side squandered scoring opportunities, hitting some bad wides. On the other hand, Passage used the ball was more effectively and wisely, and this was reflected in the half time score of 0-07 to 0-03, with Mark Shanahan scoring the combined sides points all from placed ball.
Hoping for an improvement in the second-half, the combined side were dealt a blow, when a long ball into their defence wasn’t cleared, resulting in a goal for Passage to extend their lead. Another point from Mark Shanahan reduced the gap, and with fifteen minutes remaining, the combined side got a lifeline, with John Ahern latching onto a loose ball, and put the sliothar to the net, to reduce the gap to four points.
The hope that this might spur on the lads didn’t materialise, as Passage defended well, not giving any chances to the Ferrybank/Erin’s Own forwards, and they closed out the game with a pointed free, running out comfortable winners on the day.

UNDER 7/8 HURLING:
