UNDER 11 HURLING:

Friday night was another successful night for the Ferrybank Under 11 hurlers in their second game of the city league against De La Salle in Gracedieu. From the throw-in, Ferrybank dominated and scored four quick goals, and as many points. DLS started to come back into the match, but the wealth of our defence of Caolan, Odhran, Izaak, Daniel W, Sean Heff, and Sean Fagan held them at bay. The two Shanes controlled the midfield, while the half forwards Ruaidhri, & Jake riddled the home side’s defence. DLS emerged stronger in the second-half, and clawed back 1-01, but Daniel Griff, & Alex Byrne enjoyed great goal scoring, while Joe & Mati continued to hammer the DLS goal. Well done Ferrybank.

Thanks to Ballyduff for loaning us two players for the first half of the game, and the second half it was five against seven, with the lads digging deep, covering every blade of grass and in the end were victorious. The lads defeated St. Pats, Roanmore, Ballyduff, St. Mollerans, while they drew with Clonea.

JUNIOR FOOTBALL:
Our Junior Footballers recorded their second victory in the John J Murphy sponsored competition with a hard fought win over Portlaw in Ferrybank last Friday night. Portlaw had the better of the first-half, with Trotter in goal pulling off a couple of crucial saves in the opening half, but a point from Davy Atkins and a fine goal from John Ahern ensured the sides went in level at the break.
Ferrybank began to get a grip on the game in the second-half and points from Keith Power, MJ Sutton (2), Robbie Carew and Kevin Hurley put us into the lead and they held out to record a good win.
Two wins from two, and the lads make the trip to Kill next Friday night April 10th at 6:45pm. Your support will be appreciated on the night.

UNDER 14 FOOTBALL:
Our Under 14 Footballers were narrowly defeated by Rathgormack in Ferrybank last Saturday evening on a scoreline of 4-05 to 3-05. This was a great game, and the lads can count themselves unlucky not to come away with something, as they dominated the closing minutes, but couldn’t get the equaliser against a good Rathgormack side.

MINOR FOOTBALL:
Our Minor Footballers had to concede their latest championship game against Clan Na Gaeil (Dunhill/Fenor/Butlerstown) last Sunday morning. With a small enough panel, there was a few players unavailable, and it made it tough to field a team against a much stronger selection.

GAA NOTES

JUNIOR FOOTBALL: Our Junior Footballers made it two wins from two with a hard fought win over Portlaw last Friday night on a scoreline of 1-06 to 0-6. Portlaw had the better of the opening half, but James Troy in the goal pulled of a couple of good saves to keep Ferrybank in the game. A point from Davy Atkins and a goal from John Ahern midway through the opening half, had Ferrybank going into the half time break level 1-01 to 0-04. In the second half, Ferrybank began to get on top and a Keith Power point edged them into the lead, with the defence tightened up, further points from MJ Sutton, Robbie Carew, Kevin Hurley ensured a good win for the team. Next up for the Juniors is a trip to Kill next Friday April 10th at 6;45pm. TEAM: James Troy, Pat O' Neill, Aidan Sinnott, Seamus Burtchaell, Tommy Carew, Kevin Hurley(-1), Davy Atkins(-1), Luke Flynn, Oisin MacCathmhaoil, Keith Power(-1), MJ Sutton (-2), Cormac O' Driscoll, John Ahern(1-0), Martin Freeman, Alex Power, Phil Blake, Robbie Carew(-1), Alex Kinsella, Liam Og Carey, Shane Sullivan, Dean Phelan,

MINOR FOOTBALL: Our Minor Footballers had to conceed their latest championship game last Sunday against Clan NaGaeil ( Dunhill/Butlerstown/Fenor). With a small pool of players to pick from, and with players unavailable, it was going to be hard to have a team for the day, against a very strong side. Next game is scheduled for Friday April 17th away to Portlaw at 7pm.

UNDER 14 FOOTBALL: Our Under 14 Footballers were narrowly defeated by a very good Rathgormack side in a thriller of a game on a scoreline of 4-05 to 3-05. The lads gave it everything, and were unlucky not to get something out of the game.

ANGELA BURNS MEMORIAL 10K FUN RUN/WALK: The Angela Burns memorial 10k fun run/walk will take place on Sunday April 26th at 11am from the Gaa grounds. Entry fee is €10, with a Juvenile race for under 12's commencing at 10:30am, with a €2 entry fee. Pre registration nights will take place on Tuesday 14th & 21st April, Thursdays 16th & 23rd April from 7-8pm. For anyone in taking in the walk, there will be a small change of route, by turning right at Kilmurry crossroads, turn right at the end of Kilmurry lane, turn right again at Gyles Quay at Ballyvalla, walk down by the rivers, and right turn at Larkfield house, and back home via Peafield (Ellicksons). There will be stewards on hand to give directions. Whether you are a runner, jogger, walker, pram pusher this is an ideal day out for all the family, and we would encourage everyone to come along and enjoy this great day.

GAA NOTES

JUNIOR FOOTBALL: Our Junior footballers made a winning start to this years championship with a narrow 2-04 to 0-7 win over De La Salle this morning at Gracedieu. It was a game of two halves, with the strong win playing its part. De La Salle had the breeze in the opening half and built up a 0-6 to 0-0 lead at the break. Ferrybanks defence held firm in that opening half, not giving any goal chances to the hosts. In the second half, Ferrybank created scoring chances early in the half, but didnt take them, until Alex Power took a chance to register Ferrybanks first point, with John Ahern getting another score soon after. De La Salle replied with a point to extend it to five, but Ferrybank created chances and a low shot from Kevin Hurley was turned into the net from Martin Freeman from close range. Two points from Kevin Hurley levelled it up, and as the game entered injury time a Keith Power '45 was touched into the net by MJ Sutton to give Ferrybank the win.
