Ferrybank GAA - Weekly Notes

INTERMEDIATE HURLING:
Our Intermediate hurlers are scheduled to play Dunhill in their opening game of this year’s championship in Walsh Park on Sunday 8th May at 3:45pm. However, with the County side in replay action against Clare on the same day, more than likely it will be switched to an alternative date.

JUNIOR HURLING:
Our Junior Hurlers also swing into action on Friday 6th May with a home game against St. Mollerans at 7pm. Let’s hope the lads can get off to a winning start. Best of luck to Doyler’s and his team.

DÉISE DRAW:
We had one winner in last Fridays night Déise draw which took place in Gaultier, congratulations to Catherine Howard who won €100 in the draw ensuring that we have winners in the opening two draws.
It’s not too late to get involved and purchase a Ferrybank GAA Déise Draw ticket. With 29 cash prizes on offer, ranging from a top prize of €10,000 all the way down to €100. UNDER 11 HURLING:
The Under 11 hurlers recorded their second win in the City League last Friday night, with a four point win over St. Marys in Bunmahon. It was a well-earned win for the team, well done lads. Special mention to the Under 9 &10 who assisted with this result. Thanks also to the parents, who kindly offered lifts and support.

GOLF CLASSIC:
The 8th annual Gerry Ryan Memorial Golf Classic takes places on Friday May 27th at the Waterford Golf club. Teams of three cost €20 per player with reserved tee until 5:15pm. Students/Unwaged can play for €10 before 11am. Prize giving and evening entertainment will take place in Flynn’s Bar that evening. So now is the time to form your team, and contact Andy Ryan 086-3938993 to book you tee off time.

CLOTHING COLLECTION:
The annual clothing collection continues until June, and if you have any Clothes, Towels, Soft Toys, Curtains, Paired Shoes etc., you can drop them down to the GAA grounds any evening of the week.

UNDER 16 CAMOGIE:
Our Under 16 Camogie team recorded a great win over a spirited Cappoquin side last Monday night winning on a scoreline of 5-01 to 1-01. A good work ethic was key to this win, with Lauren Ryan, Zara White, Helen Connolly, Amber Cuddihy, Rebecca Savage contributing to the scoreline.

UNDER 12 HURLING:
The Ferrybank Under 12 hurling team took part in their third City League match of 2016 against our close Kilkenny neighbours Slieverue.
Ferrybank tore ahead and secured an early lead with 3 goals in quick succession and this relentless onslaught continued unabated throughout the first-half giving the Village a great lead.
The second half-continue in the same vein with tremendous pressure being applied to the Slieverue defences. The Kilkenny team managed to claw back 3 points but the game was over.
Ferrybank 7-04  Slieverue 0-03.

U12 City League - Match Report



The Ferrybank Under 12 hurling team took part in their third City League match of 2016 against our close Kilkenny neighbours Slieverue.
Ferrybank tore ahead and secured an early lead with 3 goals in quick succession and this relentless onslaught continued unabated throughout the first-half giving the Village a great lead.
The second half-continue in the same vein with tremendous pressure being applied to the Slieverue defences. The Kilkenny team managed to claw back 3 points but the game was over.

Ferrybank GAA - Weekly Notes



ANGELA BURNS MEMORIAL 10K:

Last Sunday morning saw the annual Angela Burns Memorial 10k take place in the Ferrybank GAA grounds. Over 300 runners, walkers turned up in lovely weather conditions and set off to tackle this tricky course. First home in the Men’s race was Brian Murphy from Carrick AC,, with Aaron Donnelly from St. Senans in 2nd place, Eoin Whelan was third, David Lannigan fourth, and Brendan Aspel fifth.

In the Women’s race, Elaine O' Donovan from St. Josephs retained her title, with Aisling Ferguson 2nd, Mary Molloy third, and Vanessa Bray fourth. Adam Aspel was first home in the juvenile race.

Well done to all, and thanks to everyone who participated in the event. A huge thanks to people who contributed on the day, to the people who donated the food,  to Rosie Joyce & Sarah Hayes for doing the physio before and after the race, Rachel Beckett for putting the runners/walkers through their paces, Owen Regan & Luke Curran for spinning the discs, Fintan Walsh for his excellent commentary, the stewards for helping out, the water station helpers, the Ladies committee who ensured everyone was well fed after the race, Garda John Haley and his crew, ensuring the race went smoothly. Big thanks to all our sponsors – Clonmel Oil, Qualitile, Countrystyle, Iverk, Glanbia, Nicky's Bar Mayors Walk and of course the Burns' family….roll on 2017.



UNDER 11 HURLING:

Ferrybank played Kilmacthomas in the latest game in the City League, and started off well with scores from Conor Haley, Matti, Adam Aspel, and Michael McLaurence. The midfield consisting of Shane Purcell, Izaak and Jay continued to rattle the Kilmac defence and added to the mushrooming score line. Kilmac came more into it in the second-half but with the defence of Shane Egan, Joe Carter, Jacob, Fionn, Kyle, Conor and Paddy kept them at bay. It was a great start to the Under 11 league.



FERRYBANK GAA DÉISE DRAW:

Best of luck to all who have purchased Ferrybank Déise draw tickets, in which the second draw takes place this coming Friday night in Gaultier. Let’s hope we can continue with another few winners from last month’s draw. Congratulations to Ricky Hayden who was the confined winner for March. Group Passes:

Season Tickets: 
An email will be sent to Season Ticket holders on Monday (25th April) and they will be seated in Ardan O'Coinneain.

Under 11 Hurling - City League Match Report



The Under 11s played Kilmachthomas last Friday in City League hurling in Ferrybank. Ferrybank tore away with an early lead, with fine scores from Conor Haley, Matte, Adam Aspel and Michael McLawrence.

The midfield consisting of Shane Purcell , Izzak and Jay Bagge continued to rattle the Kilmac defence and added to the mushrooming scoreline. The second-half witnessed a bit of revenge and our defence , Shane Egan, Joe Carter, Jacob , Fionn McGarrity ,Kyle and Conor Daly and Paddy Mackey kept them at bay.
Paddy and Joe launched attacks themselves and took some fine goals.
Great start to the Under 11 league lads.

Ferrybank GAA - Weekly Notes



ANGELA BURNS MEMORIAL 10K:

This coming Sunday April 24th sees the Angela Burns Memorial 10K Fun Run/Walk commencing at 11am from the Ferrybank GAA grounds. Registration take place this coming Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 7pm-8:30pm, and also this Saturday morning from10am-12pm. Registration on Sunday morning itself will take place from 9am.

Entry fee is €10 per Adult & €2 for under 12's. We would encourage everyone from runners, joggers, walkers, pram pushers to come along and enjoy this great day out. Car parking on the day will be in the Ferrybank Shopping Centre, with entry via the Bellfield estate. If anyone would like to contribute any buns, cakes, Biscuits, sandwiches, etc. for the afters, it would be greatly appreciated, and you can drop them down to the Ferrybank GAA field on Saturday April 23rd from 2pm onwards. NURSERY HURLING TRAINING:

Every Saturday morning from 10am-11am in the Ferrybank GAA field, there is training for boys and girls, aged 5 and 6 years old. Everybody is most welcome to attend and enjoy this fun filled morning.
