Under 11 City League Match Report


The Under 11s continued their current run in the Division 3 City League with a good win over De La Salle ‘B on Friday last in Ferrybank. The game was played in perfect conditions with some good hurling from both sides.
Ferrybank gradually took control of the game and led at half-time. The second-half continue in the same way with our defenders cutting out the DLS chances and our forwards taking some nice scores.

Ferrybank GAA - Weekly Notes



INTERMEDIATE HURLING:
Our Intermediate hurlers opening game against Dunhill has been put back until Sunday May 22nd at 2pm, with the venue yet to be confirmed.

JUNIOR HURLING:
The Junior Hurlers opening game in this year’s championship was abandoned at half -ime, when the St. Mollerans’ defender picked up an injury, and we wish him a speedy recovery, prior to that, Ferrybank were in control of the game with goals from Alex Power, Tiernan Morrissey, Jeff Lawless had put them into a clear lead. Unfortunately, the injury to the St. Mollerans’ player ended the game, but the team can take heart from their opening half performance when they make the trip to play Fenor next Friday night May 13th at 7pm, and your support will be appreciated.

GOLF CLASSIC:
The 8th annual Gerry Ryan memorial golf classic takes place on Friday May 27th at the Waterford Golf Club. Entries are now open, and you can contact Andy Ryan 086-3938993 for a tee time. It’s a 3 person team event, with the tee reserved until 5:15pm. Entry fee is €20 per player, while student/unwaged can play for €10 before 11am. Prize giving will take place in Flynn's bar that evening. So now is the time to form a team, enjoy the day, and contact Andy for your tee off time.

UNDER 12 HURLING:
Ferrybank travelled to Tramore tonight to play in the U12 hurling City League. What a match this turned out to be.
Tramore were leading by 2 points at half-time, but Ferrybank soon discovered the art of hooking and thwarted Tramore's efforts. Despite the list of injures our lads suffered during this hotly contested game they battled to the end securing the victory.
Final score, Tramore 0-08 to Ferrybank 2-03. A narrow margin, but well deserved given the heroic effort put in. Well done again lads.

DÉISE DRAW:
The next Déise draw will take place on Friday May 27th at Fenor, and it’s not too late to get involved, with 29 cash prizes up for grabs, ranging from €10,000 first prize all the way down to €100, so if you would like to be part of it, and support Gaelic games in Ferrybank, you can purchase a ticket which cost €10 per month from Tony Power 086-4169215, Pat O' Meara 087-2108890, Nicky Heffernan 087-6724212.

UNDER 16 FOOTBALL:
Our Under 16 footballers travelled to play Cois Bhride last Thursday night, and came away with a share of the spoils, with the game ending 2-13 each. It could have been a lot better for the team, as the home levelled the game up with a goal in the final seconds. Well done lads on a great display

CLOTHING COLLECTION:
The Clothing collection is still continuing until June, so if you have any unwanted paired shoes, belts, handbags, curtains, towels soft toys, you can drop them down to the Ferrybank GAA grounds during evening time or a Saturday morning. Any mobile phones can be kept in a separate bag.

New Online Coaching Course

Ferrybank GAA - Weekly Notes

INTERMEDIATE HURLING:
Our Intermediate hurlers are scheduled to play Dunhill in their opening game of this year’s championship in Walsh Park on Sunday 8th May at 3:45pm. However, with the County side in replay action against Clare on the same day, more than likely it will be switched to an alternative date.

JUNIOR HURLING:
Our Junior Hurlers also swing into action on Friday 6th May with a home game against St. Mollerans at 7pm. Let’s hope the lads can get off to a winning start. Best of luck to Doyler’s and his team.

DÉISE DRAW:
We had one winner in last Fridays night Déise draw which took place in Gaultier, congratulations to Catherine Howard who won €100 in the draw ensuring that we have winners in the opening two draws.
It’s not too late to get involved and purchase a Ferrybank GAA Déise Draw ticket. With 29 cash prizes on offer, ranging from a top prize of €10,000 all the way down to €100. UNDER 11 HURLING:
The Under 11 hurlers recorded their second win in the City League last Friday night, with a four point win over St. Marys in Bunmahon. It was a well-earned win for the team, well done lads. Special mention to the Under 9 &10 who assisted with this result. Thanks also to the parents, who kindly offered lifts and support.

GOLF CLASSIC:

UNDER 16 CAMOGIE:
Our Under 16 Camogie team recorded a great win over a spirited Cappoquin side last Monday night winning on a scoreline of 5-01 to 1-01. A good work ethic was key to this win, with Lauren Ryan, Zara White, Helen Connolly, Amber Cuddihy, Rebecca Savage contributing to the scoreline.

UNDER 12 HURLING:
The Ferrybank Under 12 hurling team took part in their third City League match of 2016 against our close Kilkenny neighbours Slieverue.
Ferrybank tore ahead and secured an early lead with 3 goals in quick succession and this relentless onslaught continued unabated throughout the first-half giving the Village a great lead.
The second half-continue in the same vein with tremendous pressure being applied to the Slieverue defences. The Kilkenny team managed to claw back 3 points but the game was over.
Ferrybank 7-04  Slieverue 0-03.
