PEADAR’S SUMMER CAMP:
The 25th Annual Peadar’s Summer Camp took place last week in
Ferrybank GAA grounds, and another fantastic week was had by all. With glorious
weather for the week, over 300 children took part in the camp, learning the
skills of our national game. Highlight of the week was the arrival of An
Uachtaran Aogan O' Fearghail who came along last Friday and saw the future
stars of the GAA on display.
Also a special thanks to former Tipp Goalie Brendan Cummins, Waterford
Senior Camogie Star Trish Jackman, Waterford Hurlers Tadhg De Burca and Patrick
Curran, Kilkenny Senior hurlers John Jo Farrell and current Kilkenny Captain
Shane Prendergast and newly appointed Coaching development officer Martin
Fogarty, all who came along and gave the children some great tips & advise.
Also a special word to our main sponsor Ray Breen of Kel-Tech Engineering
who yet again kindly sponsored the week’s event. Also thanks to all our other
sponsors, and to over 50 volunteers who gave up their week to help out. Roll on

JUNIOR HURLING:
The Junior Hurlers
played out an exciting draw with Butlerstown in their latest Gerry Kennedy
Crash Repairs sponsored competition in Ferrybank last Saturday night. A bit of
a topsy turvy game, with Butlerstown dominated the opening quarter, but slowly
Ferrybank got to grips with the game, and held a three point lead entering the
closing moments, only for the visitors to reply with three late points to
snatch a draw.
Butlerstown made the running and scored the opening points, but Philly
Blake and Greg Murphy replied for Ferrybank with points. Midway through the
opening half, Butlerstown scored a goal, but straight from the puckout Ciaran
Doyle picked up a loose ball and drilled it to the net to leave it at 1-05 to
1-02.
Further points from Philly and Jeff kept Ferrybank in the hunt, and despite
been five points down, Jack Wicks scored a goal from close range and Eric
Corcoran point left two between at the break.
Ferrybank began to get a grip of the second-half, with points from Doyler,
Greg and Paul Hoban kept them in the hunt. Greg Murphy scored a third goal to
give them a three point lead, and with the clock ticking, Butlerstown chipped
away the lead with three late scores to secure a draw on a scoreline of 3-11 to
1-17.
This result leaves the Juniors unbeaten after four games, and despite
been short a few on the night, the lads can take heart with their display.

INTERMEDIATE HURLING:
Our Intermediates hurlers were defeated by a more determined Erin’s Own
team in their latest Whites Bar sponsored Eastern Hurling League game last
Monday night. From the start of the game, Erin’s Own set a strong tempo and didn’t
give Ferrybank much time to settle on the ball. Erin’s Own attack yielded a
score in the opening half, despite Oisín MacCathmhaoil and John Ahern scoring
for the home side.
The second-half was much the same, and despite Ferrybank getting back to
four points, and missing a number of scores, Erin’s Own picked off theirs when
it mattered, and a second goal late in the game, sealed a deserved win for the
visitors. Despite missing a number of players, the lads will need to get back
down to hard work, as their latest Championship game is just under a fortnight
away.
JUNIOR CAMOGIE:
Our Junior Camogie side were out of luck last Saturday night in their
opening game in the Championship where they were defeated by Portlaw on a
scoreline of 1-04 to 0-04 last Saturday evening. Next game will be against
Lismore, and a big improvement will be needed.
DÉISE DRAW:
Best of luck to those who have purchased Déise draw tickets for this coming
Friday night in Ballymacarby. Let’s hope we can continue our good run in the draw,
and picked up another few winners on the night.
COUNTY DUTY:
Congratulations to the Waterford Senior hurlers on the good win over Wexford in
Thurles last Sunday afternoon. Best of luck to Mark O’ Brien, as he is involved
with the Under 21 Hurlers who play Tipperary in the Munster Final this coming
Wednesday night in Walsh Park. Tickets for the terrace are still available
through Centra and Super-Valu. Best of luck lads.
JUNIOR FOOTBALL:
Our Junior Footballers are back in action this coming Friday night July
29th at 7:30pm with a trip to play Mount Sion. Please come along and
support the lads.
UNDER 12 FOOTBALL:
Our Under 12 Footballers play St. Saviours on Friday July 29th
in Ferrybank at 6:30pm.
UNDER 13 HURLING:
Our Under 13 hurlers recorded a good win over a determined Sacred Heart
side last Wednesday night winning on a scoreline of 4-03 to 3-00. The lads make
the trip this coming Monday night July 25th to play Roanmore at 7pm.
